Frequently Asked Questions

What services do you offer to clients in Arizona?
We provide online therapy to adults and couples living in Arizona through PsyPACT. Sessions take place by secure telehealth with licensed psychologists who specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, stress, relationship issues, identity concerns and more. We do not offer psychological testing or legal evaluations.

What does PsyPACT mean for me?
PSYPACT is an interstate agreement that allows licensed psychologists to provide therapy across state lines, including Arizona.

Do you accept insurance for Arizona clients?
Most Arizona clients work with us on a self pay basis. Our psychologists are in network with several major insurers in Texas, but insurance contracts do not automatically extend to other states. During intake we’ll review your situation and confirm all fees before scheduling.

How soon can I start?
You can usually begin within a week. If you request a specific psychologist who is fully booked, we’ll offer alternatives or place you on a short waitlist.

Do you work with children and teens in Arizona?
At this time our out of state work focuses on adults and couples. Telehealth regulations and best practices for minors vary by state, so we limit our Arizona services to adult clients to maintain the highest standard of care.

How do I get started?
Fill out our contact form or email us. Our clinical director will review your inquiry, confirm PsyPACT eligibility and help you schedule your first session. Intake forms must be completed within 24 hours so we can verify fees ahead of time.

Is therapy online or in person?
For Arizona residents, therapy is online only. Sessions are held through secure, HIPAA compliant telehealth. If you move to Texas in the future, you can continue online or transition to in person sessions at our Houston office.

What makes Real Talk different?
We are a multicultural, multilingual team of doctorate level psychologists who practice thoughtful, relational therapy. Our work is trauma informed, inclusive and grounded in real clinical depth. We offer therapy in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Farsi and work especially well with clients navigating cultural identity, major life transitions and complex emotional experiences.

Is online therapy as effective?

For many concerns, yes. We decide together based on your needs.

Do I need special equipment?

You need a regular phone or computer with a camera and stable internet. Headphones help.

Where can I be located?

In Arizona or any other PSYPACT-participating state.

How do payments work?

Insurance is billed the same way as in person: Co-pays and fees are paid after each session, using the credit card we have on file.

Do you accept insurance for therapy in Arizona? Are you in-network with my insurance company?

We’re in-network with most major plans, but we'll confirm your eligibility and benefits before your first session so there are no surprises.

What services do you offer in Arizona?
We offer online therapy to adults and couples through PsyPACT. Our psychologists specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, identity, stress, and major life transitions. We do not provide testing or legal evaluations.

Community & Crisis Resources (Arizona)

If you are in crisis, telehealth is not a substitute for emergent care. Please use these resources immediately.

  • Call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.

  • Arizona Statewide Crisis Line (Solari): 1-844-534-HOPE (4673) — 24/7.

  • 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: Call or text 988 (routes to AZ centers).

  • AHCCCS Crisis page: statewide lines + tribal warm line and regional numbers.

  • NAMI Southern AZ (Tucson) Community-Wide Crisis Line: (520) 622-6000 (or 988).

Arizona Mental Health Snapshot & Why Telehealth Helps

  • Shortage statewide: Many Arizona residents live in Mental Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs); see HRSA’s county map.

  • Crisis demand: Arizona operates a strong statewide crisis system (Solari) alongside 988; call volumes have risen since launch.

  • Medicaid (AHCCCS): Broad behavioral-health telehealth coverage is in place; asynchronous and audio-only are supported in defined scenarios.

  • Barriers: large rural/frontier regions, long travel, limited in-network openings in Phoenix/Tucson during peak demand.

  • Many individuals postpone seeking help due to long travel distances, extended wait times, or the unavailability of in-network therapists.

  • Online therapy sessions provide a valuable solution for those in underserved regions, as well as for individuals who value privacy or have difficulty traveling.

  • Additionally, if you move within Arizona or to another PSYPACT state, you can continue receiving care from your same clinician.
