Why Real Talk?
Diverse, Ph.D.–level licensed psychologists
Our team is made up of doctoral-level, licensed psychologists who bring years of experience, diverse cultural background, and clinical depth to their work.
In-network with most major insurance companies
We partner with the largest insurance providers — Aetna, Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Cigna, United Healthcare, and Oscar — so you can use your in-network benefits.
Immediate availability
We keep our schedules flexible so that new clients can get started quickly, usually within a few days.
Online & in-person sessions
We offer both secure online sessions in Texas and in-person therapy in Houston.
Services for children, adolescents, adults, and couples
Life brings challenges at every stage, and our clinicians are trained to support them all.
English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Catalan spoken
We know that language matters. Being able to express yourself in your native language can transform therapy.
Therapist matching by a licensed clinician
New clients can be matched by a licensed clinician who understands the clinical nuances of therapy.
Support with changing therapists or receiving an outside referral
We'll help you with referrals, both within and outside of Real Talk, when your first match doesn't work or if clinically necessary.
Optional intake session with a licensed clinician for clients on the waitlist
If your preferred therapist is full and you decide to wait, we'll offer you an appointment with a licensed clinician, usually within a week, to explore your needs and get guidance. In most cases, this intake is covered by insurance.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What services do you offer?
Real Talk Clinical Psychology is a team of doctorate-level psychologists based in Houston, Texas, committed to the craft of thoughtful, deeply human psychotherapy. We provide in-person therapy for local clients and online sessions for anyone living in Texas. We serve children, teens, adults, and couples across the state.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes. We’re in‑network with BCBS, Cigna, Aetna, United Healthcare, and Oscar, and will verify benefits before your first session and handle billing. We believe mental health care is a need, not a luxury, and should be handled with as much support as possible.
How soon can I be seen?
Often within a week.
Is therapy online or in person?
You choose. All clinicians offer secure telehealth, and many offer in‑person care in Houston.
Do you work with children or teens?
Yes. Several clinicians specialise in therapy for children and adolescents.
Is therapy confidential?
Absolutely. All sessions are HIPAA‑compliant and confidential.
What if my native language is not English? What if I need a therapist who understands my background and cultural context?
We are as diverse as the people we serve: we speak English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Catalan, come from many countries and backgrounds, and practice in many styles.
How do I start?
Fill out the form, call or email us. We’ll match you with the right fit, send you the intake paperwork, check your benefits, and guide you through the next steps. Our small and steady admin team is made up of real people that you will get to know by name. They are here to help you with your questions and needs.
How do I choose the right therapist?
You don’t have to do it alone. A licensed clinician can help match you with a therapist based on your needs, preferences, and availability.
What if my therapist isn’t the right fit?
Tell us. This is a normal part of clinical care. Treatment is not only about expertise, but also about connection. We can arrange a transfer to another clinician or refer you to an outside provider if that’s what’s best for you.
What happens while I’m on the waitlist?
If you’re waiting for a spot with your preferred therapist, we can offer a one-time clinical intake session with a licensed clinician. This session helps assess your needs, urgency, and fit so we can either place you with another available therapist sooner or confirm that your current match is worth waiting for. It’s usually covered by insurance, and you’ll leave with a clear plan for your next step in care. During the intake, we can also connect you with other external services if you need support beyond therapy.
Can Real Talk Clinical Psychology help me with anxiety, depression, social anxiety, trauma, ADHD, relationship struggles, grief, and emotional crisis?
Yes. Our licensed psychologists see clients in person in Houston and online across Texas, and have vast experience with diverse psychological issues, different therapeutic settings, and multiple levels of care. Whatever your issue is, please reach out and we'll be happy to match you with the right clinician for your needs.
