Our Clinical Team

Real Talk Clinical Psychology is a psychology clinic that provides in-depth and evidence-based therapy with PhD-level psychologists, in person at our Houston office and online anywhere in Texas and across states. We offer sessions in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Farsi.

People begin therapy with us for many reasons: anxiety, low mood, trauma, grief, burnout, relationship challenges, identity questions, and major life transitions. We treat them as starting points for serious, deep work.

We also provide PhD-level assessments for autism in adults.

Psychologists at Real Talk Clinical Psychology hold doctoral degrees (PhD or PsyD) from accredited programs and are authorized to work in Texas. Some of them are also PsyPact-authorized to see patients in other states.

Doctoral-level psychologists complete 5-7 years of graduate coursework, 2,000+ hours of supervised clinical training, a full-time predoctoral internship, 1-2 years of postdoctoral supervised practice, and dissertation and licensing exams. This represents 3-4 additional years of training beyond master's-level therapists, an expertise that is especially relevant for complex diagnostic presentations, treatment-resistant conditions, trauma requiring specialized protocols, and integration of research and clinical practice.

Yes. Real Talk is in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare/Optum, Oscar, Tricare, and Curative. We verify your benefits before your first session.

Yes. Fit matters, and sometimes it changes over time. If you feel a different therapist would better match your needs, you can discuss this directly with your current therapist or contact our clinical director at adriane@realtalkpsychology.com if it feels easier. We take these concerns seriously and will help you transition thoughtfully, either to another clinician at Real Talk or to a provider outside our practice if that's the best fit.

When you reach out and your preferred therapist is full or is not the best fit for you, our clinical director will match you with a licensed psychologist who has immediate availability, and you will be offered an appointment within a week. That first session is a full clinical appointment, designed to understand what you are facing and what kind of support makes sense.

If the clinician you meet is the right fit, you continue with them. If you would still prefer to wait for another therapist, that option remains open. If your needs point elsewhere, whether within Real Talk or outside it, you leave with a clear direction and appropriate support.

Real Talk Clinical Psychology operates a structured postdoctoral fellowship in clinical psychology. Postdoctoral fellows are clinical psychologists who have already completed their doctoral degree. They come to Real Talk to practice under close, ongoing supervision from our licensed senior psychologists, with case review built into the structure of every week.

Supervision and case consultation are part of how the clinical work is organized here, not only for fellows, but for the clinic as a whole. That structure means your care benefits from collective thinking rather than a single clinician's perspective.

This depth of training is rare and allows us to work with complex concerns, including trauma, dual diagnoses, cultural transitions, and long-lasting relationship difficulties. While practices with this level of specialization are often out of network, we accept major insurance plans.

When someone reaches out, our clinical director reviews what they've shared about their concerns, language, schedule, and insurance before recommending a clinician. This is not algorithmic, but a clinical judgment about fit, made by someone who knows every clinician on the team and has read what the prospective patient has described. The goal is to avoid the guesswork that leads to poor matches.
