PSYPACT
PSYPACT Psychologists in Texas: Online Therapy Across States

Some of the licensed psychologists at Real Talk hold PSYPACT authority, which permits them to provide telepsychology to patients located in participating states without a separate license in each. This is relevant to patients who need treatment while living or traveling outside Texas, to patients who relocate during treatment and do not wish to begin again, and to patients in states where doctoral-level or multilingual psychologists are scarce.
A PSYPACT psychologist in Texas can see patients in most of the country. The clinicians who hold this authority are listed below.
The inquiry process is the same as for any patient. The clinical director reviews it and, where a PSYPACT-authorized psychologist is the appropriate match, assigns accordingly. Sessions take place on a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. The patient may be located in any PSYPACT-participating state at the time of the session and informs us where they will be.
What PSYPACT Is
PSYPACT, the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact, is an agreement among states that allows a licensed psychologist who holds its authority to practice telepsychology across state lines. Its purpose is to widen access to specialized care, particularly for people in states where doctoral-level or multilingual psychologists are difficult to find.
Most states now participate, and the list continues to grow. Here is a list that the PSYPACT Commission keeps current.
What to Know Before You Begin
You must be physically located in a participating state at the time of each session. Sessions take place on a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform.
Only our licensed psychologists with PSYPACT authority can see you outside Texas. Postdoctoral fellows cannot hold the authority, and master's-level clinicians are not covered by the compact.
Our insurance contracts are with Texas plans. Coverage for a patient located in another state varies by plan and by state, so we verify benefits for the state you will be in before the first session rather than assume parity with Texas.
Our clinical director reads every inquiry and recommends a clinician within minutes on weekdays, hours on weekends.
Which clinicians can see me outside Texas?
Only the psychologists listed on this page.
I am relocating during treatment. Can I continue?
If your psychologist holds PSYPACT authority and your new state participates, yes. Tell your clinician as early as possible, so the move is planned within the treatment rather than reconstructed after it.
Will my insurance cover sessions out of state?
We check your plan for the specific state before treatment begins.
Where can I be located during a session?
In any PSYPACT-participating state. If you travel between states, tell us in advance.
What do I need for a session?
A phone, tablet, or computer with a camera, a stable connection, and a private space. Headphones help.
