About

Dr. Adriane Barroso is a licensed psychologist and psychoanalyst with more than 20 years of clinical experience. She was born in Brazil and has practiced in private practice, academic, and hospital settings across the United States, Brazil, Ecuador, and Portugal.  Her work focuses on adults and young adults dealing with grief, trauma, depression, and complex psychological presentations, including bipolar disorder. Many of her patients come to therapy after a major loss, or at a moment when life no longer makes sense in the way it once did. She often works with people who have tried therapy before but still feel poorly understood.

Dr. Barroso practices psychoanalysis. Rather than focusing on quick fixes, her work centers on understanding what keeps recurring and on helping patients make sense of experiences that feel overwhelming.  She provides therapy in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, and is attuned to the linguistic and cultural dimensions that shape psychological suffering and relationships.

Dr. Barroso is the Clinical and Training Director of Real Talk Clinical Psychology. She is also a published author and a regular presenter at psychoanalytic conferences in the United States and internationally.
