Farsi/Persian
Therapy in Farsi in Houston, TX

For many Persian-speaking patients, treatment in Farsi changes what can be said and what can be heard. Some experiences can be fully articulated only in the language in which they occurred. Houston has one of the largest Persian communities in the United States, and therapy in Farsi in Houston is offered in response to that fact.
Real Talk provides depth-oriented psychotherapy in Farsi with a doctoral-level Iranian clinician, in person in Houston and online across Texas.
Our Farsi-speaking clinician trained in more than one country and attends closely to how migration, displacement, and identity shape psychological life. Treatment is conducted in the full register of the language, with everything that carries: the vocabulary of feeling that does not translate, the family idiom, what was said at home and what was never said.
The approach is depth-oriented. We are interested in what sustains a symptom, not only in how it presents. Where clinically indicated, structured methods including EMDR and treatment for OCD are integrated.
Presentations We See
Anxiety and depression in people who have lived in the United States for years without a clinician who spoke their language. Trauma, including pre-migration trauma that has never been addressed. Obsessive-compulsive disorder. Grief for people and places that cannot be visited. Intergenerational strain in immigrant families, where the parents' Farsi and the children's English carry different worlds. Cultural adjustment that has extended beyond what would be expected. And patients previously treated in English who felt that what mattered most remained unspoken.
What We Pay Attention To
We pay attention to what remains unspoken across languages. We attend to how culture and family have shaped a person's sense of self. And we listen for what it means to inhabit more than one world, and for which world a given feeling belongs to.
Why Doctoral Training Matters: Doctoral training matters most when a presentation is complex, when trauma or OCD requires careful judgment about pacing and method, and when cultural context and clinical rigor must be held together. It also matters when a patient has previously worked with someone who spoke the language but not the clinical register, or the reverse.
Our clinical director reads every inquiry and recommends a clinician within minutes on weekdays, hours on weekends.
