What if my preferred therapist is full or on a waitlist?

You have three options: stay on the waitlist, schedule a consultation session with another psychologist to assess fit, or allow our clinical director to match you with another clinician so you can begin therapy right away.

Which insurance plans do you accept?

Our doctoral-level psychologists are in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and Oscar. If you are unsure whether your specific plan is accepted, contact us and we will verify your coverage.

Our clinical team is made up of licensed psychologists, all holding doctoral degrees, trained across multiple countries and clinical traditions. Several of us are bilingual, working with patients in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Farsi. We are all licensed in Texas, and a number of us hold PsyPact authorization to see patients across state lines.

We work collaboratively, and we think carefully about our practice and the people we treat.

When you reach out, our clinical director reviews what you've shared and then recommends a clinician. This is not algorithmic; it is clinical judgment about fit.

Our psychologists hold doctoral degrees (PhD or PsyD) in clinical psychology from accredited programs and are licensed in Texas. Doctoral-level psychologists complete 5-7 years of graduate coursework, 2,000+ hours of supervised clinical training, a full-time predoctoral internship, 1-2 years of postdoctoral supervised practice, and dissertation and licensing exams. This represents 3-4 additional years of training beyond master's-level therapists, which is especially relevant for complex diagnostic presentations, treatment-resistant conditions, trauma requiring specialized protocols, and integration of research and clinical practice.

Yes. Fit matters, and sometimes it changes over time. If you feel a different therapist would better match your needs, you can discuss this directly with your current therapist or contact our clinical director at adriane@realtalkpsychology.com (mailto:adriane@realtalkpsychology.com)if that feels easier. We take these concerns seriously and will help you transition thoughtfully, either to another clinician at Real Talk or to a provider outside our practice if that's the best fit.

When you reach out, our clinical director will match you with a licensed psychologist who has availability now, and you will be offered an appointment within a week. That first session is a full clinical appointment, designed to understand what you are facing and what kind of support makes sense. If the clinician you meet is the right fit and has availability for ongoing care, you continue with them. If you would still prefer to wait for your original choice, that option remains open. If your needs point elsewhere, whether within Real Talk or outside it, you leave with a clear direction and appropriate support.

Real Talk operates a structured postdoctoral fellowship in clinical psychology. Postdoctoral fellows are clinical psychologists who have already completed their doctoral degree. They come to Real Talk to practice under close, ongoing supervision from our licensed senior psychologists, with case review built into the structure of every week. Supervision and case consultation are part of how all clinical work here is organized, not only for fellows, but for the practice as a whole. That structure means your care benefits from collective thinking rather than a single clinician's perspective. This depth of training allows us to work with complex concerns, including trauma, cultural transitions, and relationship difficulties that go beyond communication skills alone. While practices with this level of specialization are often out of network, we accept major insurance plans.
