PsyPact

PhD-Level Online Therapy Across States via PsyPact

Our PhD-level, PsyPact-authorized psychologists can see clients across 40+ participating states, without requiring a separate license in each one.

We are in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and Oscar, and we verify your benefits before your first session.

Our psychologists come from diverse cultural backgrounds, speak multiple languages, and have worked in multiple countries and settings. We are attentive to how culture, migration, race, gender, and identity shape a person's life and inner world.

Our clinical approach is depth-oriented. We are interested in what sustains the symptoms, not only what they look like on the surface. Why does this keep happening, and where did it come from? These questions take time and require a different quality of attention, a willingness to stay with what is uncomfortable, and a clinician who can hold complexity over the long term.

Where clinically indicated, our psychologists also draw on structured, evidence-based approaches, including CBT and other manualized treatments for trauma, OCD, and other conditions. Depth and structure are not opposites. For many patients, both are part of the same course of treatment.

Our clinical team of doctoral-level psychologists provides in-person therapy in Houston and telehealth across Texas. A number of them are also PsyPact-authorized to see patients in other states.

We are in-network with Aetna, BCBS Texas, Cigna, United Healthcare/Optum, and Oscar, and we'll verify your benefits before your first appointment. Our clinical director reviews each inquiry personally and recommends a clinician whose background and approach fit what you are bringing in.

How It Works

  • Patients are offered a first session within a week. Our clinical director reviews each inquiry personally and matches you with a clinician whose background and approach fit what you are bringing in. We verify your insurance benefits before your first appointment.

  • Sessions take place on a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform.

Getting Started

Contact us. Our clinical director will match you with a clinician, send the intake paperwork, and verify your benefits once it is completed.

For your first session, choose a quiet space, check your camera and connection a few minutes before, and let us know if privacy at home is a concern. We work around it.

Adriane Barroso, Ph.D.

Kristen Wheeler, Psy.D.

Adults • English • Online, In Person • Trauma, crisis, substance use. LGBTQ+, veterans, first responders.

Is online therapy as effective as in-person?

For many concerns, yes. We discuss together what format makes the most sense given your needs and situation.

What do I need for a session?

A phone or computer with a camera and a stable internet connection. Headphones help with privacy and sound quality.

Where can I be located?

In any PSYPACT-participating state during your session.

How does insurance work for telehealth?

Insurance is billed the same way as in-person therapy. We confirm eligibility and benefits before you begin, and co-pays are collected after each session.

Why Psypact Matters

PSYPACT is an interstate compact that allows licensed psychologists to provide telepsychology services across state lines. It improves access to specialized care, particularly for people in states where doctoral-level psychologists or multilingual providers are difficult to find.
